The government has appointed Professor Dr Mohammad Shariful Islam of the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) as the fourth Pro-Vice Chancellor (VC) of the university. The appointment was announced in a notification issued by the Ministry of Education. He will succeed the incumbent Pro-VC Prof Dr Abdul Hasib Chowdhury.

Academic Background and Career

Dr Mohammad Shariful Islam obtained his BSc in Civil Engineering with distinction from BUET in 1997. He began his academic career as a lecturer at the university the same year. He was promoted through different academic ranks and became a professor in 2013. Currently, he serves as a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at BUET and is also the Director of the Research and Innovation Center for Science and Engineering (RISE).
