The Prime Minister's Education Assistance Trust has issued a warning about a scam involving fraudulent calls seeking OTPs and passwords for scholarships. The Trust has received complaints about a fraud group impersonating the Scheme Director of its Integrated Scholarship Programme and requesting sensitive information from individuals.
In a notice, the Trust urged all Upazila and Thana Secondary Education Officers, heads of educational institutions, and other stakeholders to remain vigilant against such fraudulent activities. It emphasized that no officer or employee of the Trust contacts these officials to request OTPs or passwords.
The notice instructed officials not to disclose any OTP, password, or personal and institutional information of scholarship recipients to anyone. It highlighted the importance of safeguarding sensitive information to protect scholarship recipients from potential fraud.
This warning underscores the need for increased awareness and vigilance among educational stakeholders to prevent fraudulent activities that could undermine the integrity of scholarship programmes. Ensuring the security of scholarship information is crucial for maintaining trust in educational initiatives.
