Bangladesh has sought French cooperation to expand third language education, highlighting its significance for international education, employment, and cultural connections. Prime Minister's Advisor and Press Secretary Mahdi Amin made the request during a courtesy meeting with French Ambassador Jean-Marc Sére Charlé at the Prime Minister's Office on Thursday. The discussion covered various bilateral issues including education, investment, trade, technology, and enhancing mutual communication between the people of the two countries.
The meeting particularly focused on the Prime Minister's initiative to make third language education compulsory in the education system. The possibility of including French as one of the options for the third language was also discussed. Strengthening economic and commercial relations between Bangladesh and France was another key topic. Mahdi Amin highlighted various aspects of the Bangladesh government's investment-friendly budget and business-friendly policies, urging French investors to take advantage of more investment opportunities in Bangladesh.
The meeting also discussed increasing cooperation in higher education and research, technological development, enhancing university-to-university connections, increasing scholarship opportunities for Bangladeshi students in France, and strengthening mutual communication between the people of the two countries. Both sides emphasized the importance of increasing cooperation in education, culture, technology, and economic sectors to take Bangladesh-France relations to new heights. Florent Magnin, Head of the Regional Economic Department, was present at the meeting with the French Ambassador.
