A high-level delegation of 45 executives from 25 leading US companies is scheduled to visit Bangladesh by the end of next week to explore investment opportunities and strengthen economic relations. Prime Minister's Adviser and PMO Spokesperson Mahdi Amin announced this during a briefing following a meeting between Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and visiting US President's Special Envoy for South and Central Asia Sergio Gor.
Objective of the Visit
The delegation will hold meetings with officials from various ministries and government agencies. They are also expected to meet Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. The visit aims to increase US investment in Bangladesh and deepen the economic partnership between the two countries.
Government Initiatives and Confidence
Mahdi Amin noted that the US envoy expressed strong confidence in Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's leadership, highlighting the return of political stability and the positive progress of Bangladesh's democratic journey. The US side appreciated the government's policies and initiatives over the past five months.
Economic and Trade Developments
The PMO spokesperson emphasized that the visit would encourage American investors and visitors to explore new economic opportunities in Bangladesh, expanding bilateral trade and creating employment opportunities. The revised US State Department travel advisory is expected to boost investor confidence.
Government's Commitment to Business Environment
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman recently met with leading Bangladeshi entrepreneurs and industrialists to address long-term shortages of electricity and gas, ensure energy security, reform tax and tariff systems, and remove investment bottlenecks in economic zones. The Prime Minister assured a pro-business and pro-investment environment and directed authorities to ensure round-the-clock services at major ports and airports.
