State Minister for Water Resources Forhad Hossain Azad announced that 5,890 farmers in Boda upazila will receive a loan waiver of up to Tk 10,000 each, totaling Tk 8.7 crore.

State Minister for Water Resources Forhad Hossain Azad announced that 5,890 farmers in Boda upazila of Panchagarh will receive a loan waiver of up to Tk 10,000 each, totaling Tk 8.7 crore. This initiative is part of the government's farmer-friendly programs aimed at providing financial relief to marginal farmers. Additionally, 29,450 saplings of various tree species will be distributed to promote environmental protection.

Azad emphasized that farmers are crucial for the country's food security and that the government aims to reduce their financial burdens. He noted that a policy decision to waive agricultural loans and interest up to Tk 10,000 was made in the first Cabinet meeting of the year. A total of Tk 1,567.96 crore has been allocated for this purpose in the fiscal year 2026-27.

The state minister highlighted that the loan waiver will provide farmers with new opportunities to take bank loans, procure agricultural inputs, and engage in production activities. He also mentioned that the distribution of tree saplings is intended to involve farmers in environment-friendly activities and create additional income opportunities.
