The Khulna region earned Tk 4,886.18 crore from the export of jute, jute goods, shrimp, vegetables, garments, and other products during the 2025-26 fiscal year. Despite a slight decline in exports of jute, jute goods, and shrimp due to the US-Iran war and trade barriers, the region saw a recovery in export orders as the global economy improved.

Exports from Khulna had earned Tk 5,971.40 crore in the 2024-25 fiscal year. During FY2025-26, the region exported 10,019.80 tonnes of frozen shrimp, earning Tk 84.04 crore, and Tk 458.19 crore from fresh white fish. Jute goods contributed Tk 2,493.84 crore, raw jute Tk 217.93 crore, crab Tk 9.24 crore, garment items Tk 60.59 crore, and areca nut exports Tk 1,562.35 crore.

EPB Khulna Director Zeenat Ara attributed the export growth to the improvement in the global economy, stability of foreign exchange, and Bangladesh's positive image abroad. She noted that exports declined due to the closure of state-owned jute mills and shrimp processing factories during the previous regime.

Amid optimism, EPB Khulna Director Zeenat Ara highlighted the increased issuance of certificates to importers and exporters, stressing the need for stronger coordination among producers, factory owners, and exporters to boost exports while ensuring quality.

Md Abdul Baki, former vice-president of the Bangladesh Frozen Foods Exporters Association (BFFEA), and Sharif Fazlur Rahman, a jute trader and former vice-president of the Bangladesh Jute Association (BJA), both expressed confidence in the future growth of exports from the Khulna region, citing an environment-friendly business climate and gaining momentum in global markets.
