ECNEC Approves Eight Projects Totaling Tk 14,041.21 Crore

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved eight development projects with a total cost of Tk 14,041.21 crore.

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved eight development projects with an estimated total cost of Tk 14,041.21 crore. The government will fund Tk 10,494.21 crore, while Tk 3,550.44 crore will be sourced as project loans. The approvals were granted at a meeting chaired by ECNEC Chairman and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

Of the approved projects, three are new and five are revised. Key ministries securing approvals include the Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Ministry, Disaster Management and Relief Ministry, Road Transport and Bridges Ministry, Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, and Health and Family Welfare Ministry.

Specific projects approved include the Universal Social Infrastructure Development-2 project, Integrated Development Project for Greater Dinajpur Districts, Rural Road Maintenance and Employment Project, Construction, Renovation and Improvement of Disaster Shelters project, Dhaka-Ashulia Elevated Expressway Construction Project, Power Distribution System Development Project for Sylhet Division, and projects for drilling appraisal and exploratory wells.

Additionally, the Health and Family Welfare Ministry’s project for upgrading kidney dialysis centers was approved. The meeting also informed about the approval of 11 smaller projects, each involving less than Tk 50 crore, which had been earlier cleared by the Planning Minister.

These projects are expected to significantly contribute to Bangladesh’s infrastructure and social development, enhancing the quality of life for its citizens.
