Zakia Sultana has been appointed as the new Country Manager of Mastercard Bangladesh. She succeeds Syed Mohammad Kamal, who is retiring after 13 years with the company. Sultana, who has been with Mastercard since 2015, will lead the company's operations in Bangladesh, focusing on expanding digital payments and strengthening relationships with customers and partners.
Syed Mohammad Kamal played a key role in building Mastercard's foundation in Bangladesh over the past decade. Mastercard's South Asia Division President, Gautam Agarwal, expressed gratitude for Kamal's leadership and highlighted the company's commitment to empowering local leadership in high-potential markets.
Zakia Sultana brings extensive experience in telecommunications, financial services, and large-scale transformation programs. She has held various leadership positions at Grameenphone, Airtel, and Banglalink, and has worked closely with leading financial institutions like HSBC.
