A tragic road accident in Rangpur district has claimed the lives of two women.

Two women were killed in a head-on collision between a sand-laden truck and a motorcycle at the Rathbari area under Gangachara Model Police Station in Rangpur on Friday night. The motorcycle driver was also seriously injured in the accident.

Incident Details

The deceased were identified as Radha Rani Sarkar, 40, wife of Dulal Sarkar and Anjana Rani Sarkar, 50, wife of Dwijendra Nath Sarkar of Charaikhola Babupara village under Sadar upazila of Nilphamari district. The critically injured motorcycle driver, Ajit Chandra Sarkar, has been admitted to Rangpur Medical College and Hospital.

Police Response

Gangachara Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Abdus Sabur confirmed the incident. He stated that the bodies have been handed over to the relatives after completing the legal process. A regular case has been registered at the Gangachara Model Police Station in this regard. The truck and motorcycle involved in the accident have been seized.
