A joint operation by the district administration and Titas Gas authorities in Narsingdi Sadar Upazila has resulted in the disconnection of numerous illegal gas lines and the collection of Tk 151,000 in fines. The drive, led by Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Naeem Hasan Shuvo, took place on Wednesday afternoon in the Brahmandi and Sangeeta areas. The fines were imposed under the Bangladesh Gas Act, 2010, and collected on the spot. All identified illegal connections were immediately severed. Authorities also conducted awareness activities to educate residents on the legal and safety risks of unauthorised gas use. Additionally, the process of recovering around Tk 328,000 in outstanding gas bills has been initiated.
The operation underscores the ongoing efforts to enforce gas regulations and ensure safety standards are maintained. Illegal gas connections pose significant risks, including the potential for gas leaks and explosions. By taking decisive action, authorities aim to mitigate these dangers and promote compliance with legal standards. The collected fines and recovered bills contribute to the financial sustainability of gas services in the region.
