Bangladesh fast bowler Hasan Mahmud is eager to capitalize on the experience he acquired during his county season in England as Bangladesh prepares for the upcoming Test series against Australia. The pacer, who last played in the Sri Lanka Premier League after a successful county stint, believes the exposure has significantly enhanced his bowling skills and will be beneficial in international cricket.
County Experience
Hasan's county season involved both red-ball and white-ball cricket, providing him with valuable insights and techniques. Speaking to the media, he highlighted the importance of earning the trust of his club and the rewarding feeling of being wanted back for the next year. He noted, "When you perform well for a team and they want you back next year, it's a great feeling as a sportsman. Their culture and cricket have given me valuable experience, and I'm sure it will help me in international cricket."
Australia Series
Regarding the Australia tour, Hasan emphasized his focus on consistent contributions with the ball. "My plan is to play my best cricket, continue bowling well, take wickets for the team, and contribute the way I started during my county stint," he said. He also stressed the significance of these matches, noting that Bangladesh hasn't played a Test series against Australia since 2017 and is visiting Australia for a Test series after a decade.
Hasan compared the conditions in Darwin to those in Bangladesh, expecting similar weather and pitch conditions that favor fast bowlers. "The conditions are very close. The weather in Darwin is a lot like Bangladesh--it's a little hot," he said. "I think the pitch will help me. As a pace bowler, I expect movement and bounce. There is a lot on offer for fast bowlers if we stick to our process and start well."
The fast bowler expressed his dreams of performing well in overseas Tests and contributing to Bangladesh's success in the series. "Every cricketer dreams of performing well in overseas Tests and winning. That is the dream for all of us--to give our best and try to make the series ours," he concluded.
