In a swift operation, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) successfully rescued an eighth-grade schoolgirl who had been abducted from Gaibandha district. The rescue took place in the Bholail Marakhalpar area under Fatullah Police Station in Narayanganj, leading to the arrest of the prime suspect, Md Mehedul Islam. The victim, a student at a local girls' high school and a madrasa in Sadullapur upazila, had been subjected to unwanted marriage proposals by the accused, which she refused.

According to the case documents, the abduction occurred on June 6 when the victim was returning home from her madrasa around 8:00 am. The accused, along with several associates, allegedly abducted her from the Dakshin Kazibari Santola area under Sadullapur Police Station and took her to an undisclosed location. The victim's mother filed an abduction case with the Sadullapur Police Station on June 12.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of RAB-13 and RAB-11 conducted a drive in the Bholail Marakhalpar area at around 9:25 pm on the night of August 2, leading to the successful rescue of the schoolgirl. The rescued girl and the accused were then handed over to the Sadullapur Police Station for further legal proceedings.

Md Mehedul Islam, the 19-year-old prime suspect, hails from Ballamjhar village under Gaibandha Sadar Police Station. The rescue operation was a testament to the efficiency of the RAB, which has been at the forefront of tackling serious crimes across the country.

The incident underscores the importance of swift action by law enforcement agencies in ensuring the safety and security of citizens, particularly the younger generation. The successful rescue and arrest have brought a sense of relief to the victim's family and the local community.
