In a significant operation, members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-10 uncovered a Yaba manufacturing operation in Keraniganj and arrested four alleged drug traffickers. The operation, conducted around 10:10pm on Thursday in Madhyachar South Balurchar area under Keraniganj Model Police Station, led to the seizure of 1,968 Yaba tablets, raw materials, manufacturing equipment, five mobile phones, and a weighing scale. The arrested individuals have been identified as Alamgir alias Ande, 40, Ali Arman, 36, Shahjahan, 40, and Sonia, 30.

Commander of RAB-10, Additional Deputy Inspector General Mohammad Asaduzzaman, disclosed the details at a news briefing held at the RAB Media Centre in Karwanbazar. The recovered Yaba tablets have an estimated market value of Taka 5,90,400. RAB also revealed that Alamgir is an accused in three narcotics cases filed with Rampura, Kamrangirchar, and Mohammadpur Police Stations in Dhaka.

The suspects were reportedly producing Yaba using locally collected raw materials and distributing the drugs to various parts of the country, including Dhaka. Following their arrest, they have been handed over to the concerned police station for legal action under the Narcotics Control Act.

Yaba, a type of methamphetamine, has been a growing concern in Bangladesh due to its highly addictive nature and the significant health risks associated with its use. The bust is part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to combat the illicit drug trade and protect public health.
