Police in Narayanganj have arrested Sohan, alias 'Jungi Sohan', a notorious dacoit wanted in 19 cases. The arrest has brought relief to the local community, which had been terrorized by his activities.

Special Operation Leads to Capture

On July 1, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sonargaon Police Station, Golam Sarwar, confirmed the arrest. The operation was conducted under the directives of the District Police Superintendent, Mohammad Mizanur Rahman Munshi. A vigilant police team led by Sub-Inspector (SI) Mohammod Sarwar Hossain carried out the raid on the night of June 30.

19 Cases and Serious Charges

OC Golam Sarwar stated that Sohan faces a total of 19 cases in Sonargaon Police Station, including charges of arms possession, gang rape, dacoity, and robbery. Most of these cases directly implicate him as the prime accused. The charges against him include sections 399/402 (preparation for dacoity), 395/397 (dacoity and robbery), and section 9(3) of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act. He is also charged under the Arms Act of 1878.

Long-Time Fugitive

OC Sarwar further explained that Sohan had been evading police for a long time, creating a climate of fear in the area. His arrest is expected to significantly reduce criminal activities in the region.
