The government continues its response to natural disasters, including flash floods, landslides, and hill collapses, in the southeastern and northeastern regions. District and Upazila Information Offices, under the Directorate of Mass Communication of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, have been campaigning to raise public awareness on these natural disasters.
Current Situation in Affected Regions
All 15 upazilas of Chattogram district, along with the Chattogram metropolitan area, have been affected by flooding. The District Information Office has issued emergency announcements on various safety measures, including the postponement of HSC examinations, health precautions, and avoiding unsafe houses. In Khagrachari, floodwaters have receded, though normal conditions have not been restored. Cox's Bazar has seen an improvement in the flood situation, with 74 affected unions and the municipality. Rangamati and Bandarban report normal conditions with no new incidents of landslides or hill collapses.
Awareness Campaigns and Public Safety
The District Information Offices in affected areas have been actively disseminating awareness messages through road publicity, loudspeaker announcements, and film screenings. These campaigns focus on landslides, floods, and post-flood measures to ensure public safety.
River Water Levels and Rainfall Updates
In Sylhet, the Kushiyara River is flowing above the danger level at Fenchuganj, though there is no risk of major flooding. Sunamganj and Habiganj districts have seen rising river levels due to increased rainfall, but the overall flood situation remains stable. Moulvibazar reports stable conditions, though breaches have appeared in the river protection embankment in Kamalganj upazila.
