A court in Faridpur has sentenced two individuals, Asmat Sheikh and Sagar Molla, to life imprisonment for the murder of 15-year-old autorickshaw driver Naim Sheikh in 2022. The victim was strangled with a towel in an attempted robbery of his vehicle. The court delivered the verdict in the presence of the convicted men. Another accused, Ashik Sheikh, is being tried separately in the Juvenile Court as he was a minor at the time of the incident.

According to the prosecution, Naim Sheikh, the youngest son of Md. Shamchu Sheikh of Goaler Tila in Char Madhabdia, Faridpur, was killed on April 21, 2022. After the murder, the perpetrators buried his body to conceal the crime. The following day, the victim's brother, Rased Sheikh, filed a murder case with Faridpur Kotwali Police Station, naming Asmat Sheikh, Ashik Sheikh, and Sagar Molla as the accused.

The investigating officer submitted the charge sheet to the court on May 15, 2022. After extensive hearings, witness testimonies, and examination of evidence, the court found the charges proven and handed down the verdict. District and Sessions Judge (Family Appellate Court) Ashok Kumar Dutta delivered the verdict, as confirmed by Public Prosecutor Advocate Md. Azizur Rahman.

The case has drawn attention to the issue of youth involvement in violent crimes and the need for stringent legal measures to address such incidents. The conviction of the accused is expected to provide some solace to the victim's family and serve as a deterrent to potential offenders.
