The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has initiated a special drive to combat noise pollution by targeting illegal hydraulic horns, unauthorized hooters, and other excessive noise-producing devices. The operation, led by DMP Additional Commissioner (Traffic) Md. Anisur Rahman, took place at Manik Mia Avenue near the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban at around 10:30 in the morning.
During the drive, officials were instructed to take legal action against vehicles fitted with illegal hydraulic horns and unauthorized hooters. The Additional Commissioner urged vehicle owners and drivers to refrain from unnecessary horn use and raised awareness about the harmful effects of noise pollution on public health and the environment.
Md. Anisur Rahman noted that noise pollution poses a serious threat to public health, the environment, and urban life. The DMP has launched a week-long special campaign across the capital to reduce noise pollution and called on all motorists to comply with traffic laws and avoid unnecessary horn use.
According to the DMP Traffic Division, such enforcement drives will continue as part of its efforts to ensure a safer, more disciplined, and citizen-friendly traffic management system in the capital.
