The Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo observed July Martyrs' Day 2026 with a solemn ceremony, honoring martyr Abu Sayeed and all those who sacrificed their lives during the July Mass Uprising. Ambassador Md. Daud Ali pledged the embassy's support for rebuilding the nation in line with the martyrs' aspirations.
Ceremony and Tributes
The ceremony began with a one-minute silence in memory of the martyrs. Messages from the President and the Prime Minister were read out, and the national flag was flown at half-mast as a mark of respect.
Ambassador's Remarks
Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Daud Ali highlighted the significance of the July Mass Uprising and the sacrifices made by the martyrs. He emphasized that martyr Abu Sayeed's fearless sacrifice played a pivotal role in transforming the student movement into a mass uprising and paving the way for establishing justice in the country.
The ambassador noted that the July Mass Uprising created an opportunity to build a state founded on equality, good governance, and freedom from authoritarianism. He praised the democratic environment and good governance established under the current government, which has injected new momentum into nation-building and national development.
Commitment to Martyrs' Ideals
Ambassador Daud Ali reaffirmed the embassy's commitment to the martyrs' ideals and called for united efforts to advance the country's development and fulfill their dreams and aspirations. The program concluded with a special prayer seeking eternal peace for the departed souls of the martyrs, speedy recovery for those injured during the uprising, and continued peace, prosperity, and progress for the country.
