Veteran minister Ramalingappa Reddy has resigned from the new Karnataka government within 48 hours of its formation. Reddy submitted his resignation letter on Friday morning.
Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar has stated that Reddy is a senior leader and a close friend, and he will address the issue after speaking with him.
Reddy was initially promised the Bengaluru Development Department but was instead given the Water Resources Department, which he did not prefer, leading to his resignation.
Efforts are underway to resolve the crisis, though there are reports of discontent among other ministers regarding portfolio allocations. This presents a significant challenge for Chief Minister Shivakumar.
Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's son, Yatindra Siddaramaiah, has been included in the cabinet to appease his father, receiving the Urban Development Department.
