Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates is testifying before Congress regarding his association with the late Jeffrey Epstein. This high-profile hearing is one of the most significant to date, with lawmakers from both parties expected to question Gates about the extent of his relationship with Epstein. Gates has voluntarily agreed to cooperate with the House Oversight Committee, which is investigating Epstein's activities. The testimony comes amid the release of court documents detailing Epstein's interactions with various high-profile individuals, including Gates. Gates has denied any wrongdoing and expressed regret for ever associating with Epstein.
The hearing is the 15th by the House Oversight Committee, which has been scrutinizing Epstein's connections with influential figures. The committee has released videos and images from court documents showing Epstein with powerful individuals, including Gates. Upon arriving at Capitol Hill, Gates told reporters, 'I am pleased to testify voluntarily to assist the committee.' He added that he hopes his testimony will aid the committee's important work in ensuring justice for victims.
Previous reports, including from CNN, have highlighted draft emails from 2013 allegedly written by Epstein, claiming he helped Gates with various personal matters, including procuring medication to hide a sexually transmitted disease from his wife. However, the authenticity and sending of these emails are unclear, and Gates has vehemently denied these claims. His spokesperson stated that the documents only prove Epstein's frustration and that Gates cut ties with him due to his criminal activities. Gates has explicitly denied any involvement in Epstein's illegal activities.
