Tawhhid Hridoy has been included in the Bangladesh Test squad for the upcoming series against Zimbabwe and named vice-captain for the T20I series against Australia. Hridoy, who has been a regular in white-ball cricket, was selected based on his aggressive style and strong First-Class record. He has scored three centuries in 23 innings at an average of 44.68. Pace bowler Robiul Haque, who has taken 107 wickets in 32 First-Class matches, also received his maiden Test call-up. The squads were announced by chief selector Habibul Bashar in Mirpur.
In the Test squad, Taskin Ahmed, Nahid Rana, and Shariful Islam have been rested, while Mehedi Hasan Miraz opted for a break after discussions with the selectors. Hasan Mahmud and Khaled Ahmed return to the Test squad. Opener Zakir Hasan has been omitted due to the inclusion of Sadman Islam. In the T20I squad, Saif Hasan stepped down as vice-captain to focus on his batting, with Hridoy taking over. Nahid Rana, who has played only one T20I, was included as he is not part of the Test squad. Ripon Mondol and Tanzim Hasan were ruled out due to injuries, and Mohammad Saifuddin was omitted from the T20I squad.
