Talha Zubair, former national pacer, has been appointed as the interim pace bowling coach for Bangladesh's upcoming home series against Australia. He has previously coached most of the national pacers in age-group and domestic cricket, except for Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed. Talha expressed his excitement about coaching Nahid Rana, one of Bangladesh's most talked-about cricketers. He reminisced about Rana's pace from his early days and his own unfulfilled dream of playing on pace-friendly wickets in Bangladesh.
Talha, who played 7 Tests and 6 ODIs for the national team, had his career cut short by a back injury. He now finds joy in seeing current pacers fulfill his unfulfilled dreams. He emphasized the importance of pace-friendly wickets for the development and injury prevention of pace bowlers. Bangladesh has recently played on such wickets, including in their Test series win against Pakistan.
Talha acknowledged that the series plan against Australia is not yet finalized and will be determined after the national team camp begins. He sees his interim role as an opportunity to gain experience that he can later share with age-group and domestic teams. Talha aims to help the current pacers reach their full potential and believes his national team coaching experience will be valuable in his future coaching endeavors.
