India has announced its squad for the upcoming T20 series in Zimbabwe, with Sanju Samson notably omitted from the lineup. Despite his crucial role in India's T20 World Cup triumph earlier this year, Samson has been left out for the series, which begins on July 23 in Harare.

Samson's Recent Performance

Samson played a pivotal role in India's T20 World Cup victory, scoring match-winning half-centuries in the last three matches of the tournament. His performances were instrumental in securing India's place in the final and ultimately winning the title.

Emergence of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

The decision to omit Samson comes as teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been included in the squad. Sooryavanshi, who opened the batting in the second T20 against England at Old Trafford, has been preferred over Samson for the Zimbabwe series.

New Faces in the Squad

Wicketkeeper-batter Prabhsimran Singh, pacers Yash Thakur and Ashok Sharma, and all-rounder Harsh Dubey have earned their maiden national call-ups. The inclusion of these young talents indicates India's focus on building a strong future squad.

Series Details

India will play three T20 matches in Harare during the series. The squad, led by Shreyas Iyer with Tilak Varma as vice-captain, includes a mix of experienced players and new faces.

Full Squad

The full squad for the Zimbabwe T20 series is: Shreyas Iyer (capt), Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma (vice-capt), Ishan Kishan, Shivam Dube, Suryansh Shedge, Rinku Singh, Harsh Dubey, Varun Chakaravarthy, Prince Yadav, Yash Thakur, Ashok Sharma, Mayank Yadav, Prabhsimran Singh.
