Jurgen Klopp has stated he is'ready' for 'intensive discussions' over becoming the new coach of Germany's national football team following Julian Nagelsmann's resignation.
Klopp's Declaration
Klopp, who is currently under contract as the head of global football for the Red Bull conglomerate, told the German Football Association (DFB) on Friday that he is 'fundamentally willing' to take over the role after Nagelsmann's departure.
Context of Resignation
Nagelsmann resigned just four days after Germany's disappointing exit from the World Cup in the last 32, following a loss to Paraguay. His contract was set to run until 2028.
Klopp's Current Contract
Although Klopp is contracted to Red Bull, reports from Sky Germany suggest he has a verbal agreement that would allow him to leave for the Germany job. Klopp emphasized his commitment to honoring contracts but expressed his interest in the position.
Need for Change
In an interview with Magenta TV, where he was working as a World Cup pundit, Klopp noted that 'the problems we currently have don't hinge on Julian Nagelsmann. We have to fundamentally change things now.'
Discussions Ahead
Klopp also mentioned the necessity of talking with Red Bull managing director Oliver Mintzlaff, highlighting that 'German football is close to his heart. Red Bull needs to come out of this situation cleanly. It's not that easy to get out of it.'
Klopp's Track Record
Known for his successful tenures at Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund, Klopp led Liverpool to both Champions League and Premier League honors. His potential appointment as Germany's coach would mark a significant shift in the nation's football strategy.
