Yusuf Hossain Humayun, a senior lawyer and member of the Awami League's advisory council, passed away on Saturday evening while receiving treatment at a private hospital in the capital. He was 90 years old. Humayun leaves behind his wife, two sons, a daughter, and numerous admirers.
Humayun served as the Vice Chairman of the Bangladesh Bar Council, President of the Supreme Court Bar Association (2016–2017), and Convener of the Bangabandhu Awami Lawyers Council.
His funeral will be held on Sunday afternoon at the Supreme Court premises, followed by burial in Mirpur.
Born on November 14, 1936, in Bhola, Humayun was a close associate of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He was elected as a Member of Parliament from the then Bakerganj-4 constituency in the first national election of 1973 as an Awami League candidate.
