Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad has warned that the public will be disappointed if the current parliament fails to meet their expectations. He made these remarks during an exchange of views with members of the Executive Committee of the Bangladesh Parliament Journalists' Association (BPJA) on Thursday. The discussion took place in the Speaker's conference room at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.

In a press release signed by BPJA Office Secretary Tanjim Ahmed, it was stated that a delegation led by the organization's President Harun Jamil and General Secretary Shoukat Ali Khan participated in the discussion. The Speaker highlighted the need for a relationship between the public and the parliament, expressing hope that journalists would work towards fulfilling these expectations.

He also mentioned the damage to journalism during the BAKSAL period and the lingering fear among journalists over the past 20 years. The Speaker noted the current freedom of the media in the country, allowing newspapers to publish freely. He further discussed the dreams of independence in 1971 and the gradual erosion of those dreams, referencing past events involving the Awami League.

The Speaker concluded by stating that the nation must prioritize the country's interests, with opposition parties criticizing government errors and the ruling party working to make the parliament effective. He stressed the need for both government and opposition parties to work together to advance the parliament.
