Social Welfare Minister Prof Dr AZM Zahid Hossain has asserted that the history of the BNP is not a history of compromise and escapism, but rather a history of resisting autocracy. Speaking as the chief guest at a discussion organized at the Institution of Diploma Engineers to mark the 6th death anniversary of the late Shafiul Bari Babu, former Swechchhasebak Dal President, Dr Zahid emphasized the party's commitment to the people and the protection of the country's sovereignty.

'BNP practices politics for the people of the country and to protect the country's sovereignty. If the people remain united, conspirators will never succeed,' Dr Zahid said. He urged everyone not to put the country in danger by unnecessarily agitating people and opening the way for autocrats.

Recalling the memory of the late Shafiul Bari Babu, Dr Zahid described him as an honest, dedicated, self-sacrificing, responsible, and devoted party member. State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku, who was also present, shared his ideological bond with Babu, highlighting their joint efforts during the anti-fascist movement.

The event was attended by notable figures including the late Shafiul Bari Babu's wife, Member of Parliament Beethika Binte Hossain, and was presided over by Member of Parliament Abul Khayer Bhuiyan. The discussion aimed to honor Babu's contributions and reinforce the BNP's historical stance against autocracy.
