Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon today urged all not to commercialize or exploit the spirit of the July sacrifice, emphasizing that the enduring spirit of the Liberation War is embodied in this spirit. Speaking at a ceremony marking July Martyrs' Day, he cautioned against deriving personal or political benefits from it.

Swapon made the remarks while presiding over a publication unveiling ceremony, photo exhibition, and discussion at the DFP Auditorium. Local Government, Rural Development, and Cooperatives Minister and BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir attended as the chief guest, alongside State Minister for Information Yasser Khan Choudhury and PSC member Dr Chowdhury Sayma Ferdous.

The minister highlighted the importance of remaining vigilant to prevent the spirit and achievements of the July Mass Uprising from being misused. He called on all to work together to uphold justice, democracy, and human values by embracing the spirit of July.

Swapon recounted the struggles of party leaders and activists, including the late Begum Khaleda Zia and Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, who endured imprisonment and repression in the fight against fascism. He noted the successful anti-fascist movement led by the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the ongoing efforts to rebuild the country.
