A written complaint has been filed against former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the Siliguri Cyber Police Station. The complaint, filed by lawyer Rinki Chattopadhyay Singh, accuses Banerjee of making inflammatory and defamatory remarks against India's constitutional institutions and security agencies. The complaint specifically mentions Banerjee's comments linking the Indian government to a political murder in Bangladesh, aiming to tarnish India's image internationally and create distrust among the public towards the government.
The complaint also highlights Banerjee's previous remarks about the Indian government and the Home Ministry, as well as her alleged secret discussions with the Home Ministry. It accuses her of attempting to create a hostile atmosphere between India and Bangladesh. This is the second FIR filed against Banerjee in a week, following an earlier complaint for derogatory remarks about the Sanatan Dharma during an Eid festival in Kolkata last year.
Lawyer Rinki Chattopadhyay's complaint further alleges that Banerjee's comments have hurt the sentiments of Sanatan Dharma followers and disrupted communal harmony. It also mentions Banerjee's controversial statement during the 2021 West Bengal Assembly Election campaign, where she allegedly incited a specific community to attack Hindus, saying 'they will be finished by 12 o'clock.' The complaint claims this statement was intended to intimidate voters and create social unrest.
