The BNP-led government has initiated implementation of nearly 80 percent of its election manifesto within four months of assuming office, according to BNP Joint Secretary General and Narsingdi-1 (Sadar) lawmaker Khairul Kabir Khokon. Speaking after offering prayers at the grave of Tahmid Bhuiyan, the first martyr from Narsingdi during the 2024 July Uprising, Khokon highlighted the government's progress under Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
Rapid Implementation of Key Programmes
Khokon noted that the government has launched several key programmes, including the Family Card, Farmers' Card, and Health Card, as part of its election commitments. He emphasized that this level of rapid implementation is unprecedented globally.
Commitment to Democratic Environment
Khokon also remarked on the current democratic environment in the country, warning against attempts to create political instability outside parliament. He asserted that the people would not accept efforts to turn "non-issues" into political issues. Among those present were Narsingdi Zila Parishad Administrator and District BNP Vice-President Tofazzal Hossain Masterm and Tahmid Bhuiyan's father Rafiqul Islam Bhuiyan.
