Bangladeshi-American music artist and director Sanjay Deb is set to perform at the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup in Canada. The young DJ will perform at the inaugural event on June 12, local time, in Toronto.
Joining him on stage will be Canadian music and dance artist Nora Fatehi and French hip-hop star Vegedream. The cultural event, held before the match between Canada and Bosnia-Herzegovina at Toronto's BMO Field, will also feature Michael Buble, Alanis Morissette, Alessia Cara, Jessie Reyez, William Prince, and Iliyana.
Sanjay expressed his disbelief at performing at such a grand event, stating it still feels like a dream. His World Cup song 'Sir Sir', shot in Morocco and released on FIFA's YouTube channel on June 8, has garnered 38.3 million views and 16,000 comments in four days.
The song, produced in collaboration with Bangladeshi artists Habib Wahid, Tahsan Khan, and Jefar Rahman, has received an overwhelming response. Sanjay's upcoming song 'Ekla Duniya' with Habib and Muza has already been viewed over 3.7 million times on YouTube.
Habib Wahid praised Sanjay's talent, calling his performance at the World Cup a source of national pride and wishing him continued success.
