Although Bangladesh is not participating in the football matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the country is making its presence felt through cultural events. Bangladeshi-American musician and music producer Sanjoy Deb will perform at the opening ceremony in Toronto, Canada. He will be joined by several international stars. Sanjoy's performance is seen as a symbol of Bangladesh's representation.

This is the first time a Bangladeshi artist has performed on such a large scale at the World Cup. Another Bangladeshi, Russell Ali, is the co-producer and co-writer of the popular World Cup song 'Sir Sir'. Thus, multiple Bangladeshis are part of this year's World Cup events.

Sanjoy, who was born in Srimangal, Bangladesh, but grew up in the USA, expressed his excitement about performing at the World Cup. He credited his parents' hard work and sacrifices for his success. Sanjoy believes Bangladeshi music has great potential on the global stage and hopes to promote Bangla songs and Bangladeshi culture worldwide.
