Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu, MP, today said the government will continue to stand by meritorious and financially disadvantaged students through scholarships and financial assistance to ensure they can pursue their education without interruption. He made the remarks while addressing a scholarship distribution ceremony as the chief guest at the Rajshahi Zila Parishad Auditorium, where scholarships were awarded to meritorious and underprivileged students.

Commitment to Education

The minister emphasized that education is the key driving force behind a nation's development and progress. He noted that many talented students still face uncertainty in continuing their studies because of financial hardship. "Today's students will build the Bangladesh of tomorrow. That is why the government is implementing various scholarship and assistance programmes so that no meritorious and financially disadvantaged student faces obstacles in education," he said.

Investment in Future

Describing investment in education as an investment in the country's future, Minu said the government's goal is to establish an education system where no student is deprived of the opportunity to develop their talents due to financial constraints. He urged affluent members of society, public representatives, and social organizations to play a greater role in expanding educational opportunities alongside government initiatives.

Rising Costs of Education

Referring to the increasing cost of higher education and financial pressure on families, the minister said scholarship programmes at both the government and local levels have become increasingly important in helping students continue their studies. Rajshahi Zila Parishad Administrator Advocate Ershad Ali, who presided over the programme, said the Zila Parishad would continue its education-friendly activities and remain committed to supporting meritorious and financially disadvantaged students.

Scholarship Distribution

A total of Tk 24.10 lakh was distributed among 482 students who obtained good results in the SSC and HSC examinations, with each receiving a one-time scholarship of Tk 5,000. The event was attended by MPs Shafiqul Haque Milan and Professor Nazrul Islam, Rajshahi City Corporation Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, former Rajshahi City Corporation Mayor Mohammad Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul, Divisional Commissioner Dr. A. N. M.
