Cambridge Invites Bangladeshi Scholar to 16th Annual Gulf Research Meeting

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Gias Uddin Talukder, Chairman of Chittagong University's Arabic Department, has been invited to participate in the 16th Annual Gulf Research Meeting at Cambridge.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Gias Uddin Talukder, Chairman of the Arabic Department at Chittagong University (CU) and Chairman of the Central Shari'ah Board for Islamic Banks of Bangladesh, will attend the 16th Annual Gulf Research Meeting (GRM) 2026 at the University of Cambridge from July 21 to 23. The meeting, described as an important platform for international research collaboration, will host over 300 scholars focusing on Gulf studies.

Prof. Talukder received the invitation through a letter dated March 6, signed by Dr. Oskar Ziemelis, Interim Director of the Gulf Research Centre, Cambridge. He is scheduled to depart for the United Kingdom today, as confirmed by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shafi Ullah Kutubi of the CU Arabic Department.

The conference aims to promote research on the Gulf region, facilitate knowledge exchange, and strengthen international academic collaboration. Prof. Talukder will participate in a workshop titled 'Gulf-South Asia Relations in an Era of Deepening Interdependence,' focusing on economic cooperation, diplomacy, and geopolitical developments.

The Gulf Research Meeting is an annually held prestigious international academic conference dedicated to Gulf studies. Prof. Talukder's participation highlights the significance of Bangladesh's academic contributions to global research initiatives.
