Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed hope for further strengthening cooperation between Bangladesh and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). During a courtesy call by JICA President Dr. TANAKA Akihiko at the Secretariat, the minister underscored JICA's role as one of Bangladesh's largest development partners. The meeting focused on ongoing and future development plans, with discussions on waste management, water management, capacity building in the local government sector, and sustainable urban development.
Rapid Development Under Prime Minister's Leadership
Fakhrul noted that Bangladesh is progressing rapidly under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, who is committed to swift completion of development works. The government is coordinating with international partners to modernize and enhance the local government system.
