A 55-year-old trader, Anowarul Haque, was tragically killed after being hit by a truck while crossing a road in the Uttara area of Dhaka. The incident occurred at the Jasimuddin Road U-turn around 9:00pm on Wednesday.

Incident and Immediate Aftermath

Passers-by rescued Haque and rushed him to Kurmitola General Hospital. However, as his condition deteriorated, he was transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at around 3:00am on Thursday.

Investigation Underway

Haque, who owned an auto-bike garage, was returning home to Konabari, Gazipur, after work when the accident happened. His nephew, Porosh Mia, stated that Haque was crossing the road when a speeding truck struck him. The driver fled the scene immediately after the crash. Inspector Mohammad Faruk, in charge of the police camp at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, confirmed that the body had been kept at the hospital morgue for an autopsy and that the matter had been referred to the relevant police station for further investigation.

Haque was a resident of Ghoradah village in Sujanagar upazila of Pabna district but had been living with his family in Konabari, Gazipur. The tragic incident highlights the ongoing issue of road safety in urban areas, where speeding and reckless driving often result in fatal accidents.
