The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested an alleged murderer in Bogura in connection with the killing of a farmer during the theft of a transformer from an irrigation pump in Pirganj upazila of Rangpur. The arrestee, M. Rashid Mia, 42, son of Dula Mia of Jangram village under Shibganj Police Station in Bogura district, was apprehended following a joint operation by RAB-13 in Rangpur and RAB-12 in Bogura.

Acting on a tip-off, the joint RAB team conducted a raid and arrested Rashid Mia from the Buriganj Bazar area under Shibganj Police Station on Sunday night. He has been handed over to Pirganj Police Station for further legal action.
The Incident
According to the case statement filed by the victim's brother, farmer Mofizar Rahman of Umarpur village under Pirganj upazila was guarding an irrigation pump transformer at an irrigation facility on the night of May 6, 2026. On the morning of May 7, his family members found Mofizar's body inside the irrigation facility with his hands and feet tied.
Theft and Investigation
After killing the farmer, the miscreants stole the transformer and fled. The victim's brother, Manuar Hossain, filed a murder case against unidentified persons with Pirganj Police Station on May 7, 2026. The swift action by the RAB teams has brought a suspect into custody, marking a significant step in the investigation.
