Government officials, political leaders, professionals, and civil society members gathered in Bagerhat to discuss the district's overall development and future regional plans. The meeting, organized by the Bagerhat Officers Forum, took place at the Sonatala conference room of the Zilla Parishad building and was chaired by the forum's president, Dr. Md Faridul Islam.
Development Priorities Discussed
Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal MP, who attended as the chief guest, emphasized the government's 'Bangladesh First' approach and the need for coordinated efforts among the administration, political parties, and the elected government to ensure sustainable development and human resource growth. He highlighted the government's focus on education and healthcare in budget allocations and stressed the importance of infrastructure development, including an airport, better road connectivity, and employment generation in coastal areas.
Key Recommendations
State Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Affairs Sheikh Faridul Islam called for upgrading the Khulna-Mongla highway, constructing an airport, and building a sustainable embankment to address coastal salinity. He also advocated for establishing a medical university, technical colleges, and IT training centers to create employment opportunities and reduce dependence on the Sundarbans. Improved saline water management was suggested to boost agriculture and strengthen shrimp farming.

Participants, including military and civil officials, political leaders, representatives of cultural and professional organizations, journalists, and other stakeholders, offered recommendations on infrastructure, education, healthcare, employment, and investment to support the district's long-term development.
