Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ali Hossain Fakir has emphasized that police must serve as servants of the people, earning public trust through professionalism, skills, and knowledge acquired through training. He made these remarks while addressing the basic training closing parade of 500 trainees of the 42nd Cadet Sub-Inspector (SI)-2025 batch as the chief guest at the Bangladesh Police Academy parade ground in Sardah, Rajshahi.

The IGP instructed the newly commissioned officers to perform their duties with honesty, dedication, transparency, and professionalism, rising above fear and temptation. He highlighted that maintaining law and order, suppressing crime, and ensuring the safety of people's lives and property are the sacred duties of the police.

Mentioning that transparency and accountability are among the prerequisites of a democratic policing system, the IGP urged the officers to be firm in curbing crime while remaining polite, humane, and friendly towards the public. He stressed the importance of acquiring technological skills to tackle rapidly evolving crime trends, particularly cybercrime.

The IGP advised the new officers to develop expertise in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital forensics to combat various technology-based crimes, including online gambling and the spread of rumours on social media. Principal of the Bangladesh Police Academy G M Azizur Rahman was present at the ceremony, while Assistant Superintendent of Police Shubh Kumar Ghosh served as the parade commander.

Among the award recipients, Shahriar Hasan Sijan (PA-42312) was named Best Cadet, Md.
