Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today called for collective efforts to make Bangladesh greener, urging children to plant at least one tree each year. He inaugurated a nationwide tree plantation program at government primary schools in Dhaka, where nearly 200,000 saplings were planted simultaneously across the country.
Nationwide Initiative
The Prime Minister launched the initiative at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre, organized by the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education. He planted a 'Neem' sapling to mark the beginning of the campaign, emphasizing the importance of environmental education for children.
Addressing the children, Tarique Rahman encouraged them to plant one sapling each year, either at school or around their homes. He suggested they research the benefits of trees, such as oxygen production and shade, to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of nature.
Educational Focus
The Prime Minister highlighted the educational aspect of the initiative, urging students to learn about different trees and their benefits. He envisioned a future where the trees planted by children would provide shade and fresh air, enhancing the environment and quality of life.
After the inauguration, Tarique Rahman inspected projects prepared by primary school students on nature and the environment. Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj, and other officials were present at the event.
