The Monohardi upazila administration has launched a coordinated assessment of waterlogging, damaged roads and culverts and riverbank erosion caused by days of heavy rainfall, with authorities pledging swift repairs and long-term mitigation measures.

The initiative follows directives from Health and Family Welfare Adviser Alhaj Sardar Shakhawat Hossain Bokul. An emergency meeting of the Upazila Disaster Management Committee, chaired by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) M A Muhaimin Al Jihan, was held at the UNO's office on Tuesday. Officials from government departments, political leaders, journalists, teachers and civil society representatives attended.

The committee decided to immediately inspect affected areas and coordinate response efforts through the relevant government agencies. Following the meeting, the UNO led a field visit with officials from the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB), the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), local political leaders and journalists.
