In the flood-stricken Amtali Para area of Bandarban municipality, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit distributed relief materials to victims, affirming the government's unwavering commitment to alleviate the suffering of all flood victims, irrespective of their ethnicity or community.

'Whether they are members of the hill communities, Bengalis or any other group, everyone has been equally affected by the heavy rainfall and flash floods. There will be no discrimination, and the government is making every effort to ease the hardship of all flood victims,' Amit told journalists.

He mentioned that his visit to Bandarban was on the instructions of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to assess the condition of the affected people and oversee the relief efforts. 'The government will not leave any flood-affected person without assistance,' he assured.

Since the onset of the flooding, local lawmakers, district administration, district police and other government agencies have been conducting rescue, relief and rehabilitation operations. Cooked meals are being provided to people staying in flood shelters, while dry food is being distributed to those outside the shelters. Medical teams are also ensuring healthcare services for flood-affected people.

Amit announced that food assistance and subsidised food distribution programmes would be launched within the next few days, enabling flood victims to purchase essential commodities at affordable prices and reducing their financial burden. He also said the government would gradually repair or rebuild houses damaged or destroyed by the floods so that affected families could return to their homes and resume normal life as soon as possible.
