The government has extended the timeframe for issuing and re-issuing passports for expatriate Bangladeshi citizens by an additional six months, effective till December 31. This extension allows expatriates to apply for new passports or correct existing passport information without interruption.
Extension Details
According to a notification from the Ministry of Home Affairs, this extension is intended to ensure that passport services remain uninterrupted for expatriates. The previous order, issued on July 8, 2025, and set to expire on June 30, 2026, has now been extended until December 31.
Benefits for Expatriates
This extension provides expatriate Bangladeshis with the opportunity to correct passport information such as name, date of birth, parents' names, or other necessary details within the new timeframe. It aims to facilitate legal travel and administrative activities for those abroad.
Implementation and Communication
The Ministry of Home Affairs has instructed all concerned agencies to implement this order immediately. Notifications have been sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry, the Department of Immigration & Passports, all Bangladesh missions abroad, and other relevant departments.
