Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu announced today that the government will develop a skilled workforce to strengthen integrated disaster management in the coming years. He made the remarks while addressing, as the chief guest, the orientation programme for 188 newly recruited employees of the Department of Disaster Management at the Disaster Management Building in Mohakhali.
Vulnerability and Importance
The minister highlighted Bangladesh's geographical location, which makes it highly vulnerable to various natural disasters that hit the country regularly. In such difficult times, disaster management personnel serve as a source of hope for affected people.
Transparency and Accountability
Regarding transparency in recruitment, Dulu mentioned that the total cost incurred by each applicant—from submitting the job application to joining the service—was only Tk 112 for the recently recruited 188 employees. He said the Department of Disaster Management is an example of the current government's efforts to establish a corruption-free administration through transparency and accountability.
Call for Dedication
State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief M Iqbal Hossain urged the newly recruited employees to perform their duties with honesty, dedication, and sincerity. Disaster Management and Relief Secretary Md. Saidur Rahman Khan and Department of Disaster Management Director General Razwanur Rahman also spoke at the event.
