Farmer Dies in Lightning Strike While Working in Thakurgaon Field

A farmer was tragically killed after being struck by lightning while working in his field in Thakurgaon's Sadar upazila.

A farmer was tragically killed after being struck by lightning while working in his field in Thakurgaon's Sadar upazila on Monday morning. The deceased has been identified as Fazlul Karim, 40, son of Mohsin Ali of Kachna village under Raipur Union of the upazila.

The incident occurred around 9:00 am at Harinda village. According to local residents and police, the weather suddenly turned cloudy, and intense lightning began. A lightning bolt struck Karim directly, causing severe burns to the left side of his body and below his neck.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station, Shahjahan Ali, confirmed the incident. The sudden and tragic event has left the local community in shock.

Lightning strikes are a rare but dangerous phenomenon in Bangladesh, particularly during the monsoon season. This unfortunate incident underscores the need for awareness and safety measures to protect individuals working outdoors.
