The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed 1,492 cases against motor vehicles, owners, and drivers for violating traffic rules in a single day across the capital. The DMP's media and public relations division disclosed this information in a press release. These cases were filed and fines were collected on July 7 through regular drives against traffic rule breakers.
Breakdown by Divisions
The cases were distributed across various divisions of Dhaka. Ramna division filed 73 cases, Lalbagh division registered 95, Motijheel traffic division filed 156, Wari division registered 484, Tejgaon division filed 147, Mirpur division filed 120, Uttara division registered 220, and Gulshan division filed 197 cases against motor vehicles, three-wheelers, and motorcycles.
Vehicles Dumped and Towed
A total of 301 motor vehicles were dumped, and 313 were towed due to poor driving practices, according to the DMP release. This action underscores the police's commitment to enforcing traffic regulations and ensuring road safety.
