Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed has instructed traffic personnel to discourage the unnecessary use of vehicle horns across the city, particularly in designated silent zones. He stressed the need for coordinated efforts to ensure an effective traffic management system.

"Noise pollution is not only harmful to the environment but also poses a serious threat to public health," Ahmed said during a views-exchange meeting with traffic division officials.

Efforts to Reduce Noise Pollution

The commissioner directed traffic officials to install clear signboards in silent zones, raise public awareness, and discourage the unnecessary use of vehicle horns. The DMP organized the meeting to make the capital's traffic management more effective, modern, and citizen-friendly.

Improving Traffic Management

The meeting discussed various issues, including improving traffic management, easing congestion, ensuring road discipline, enforcing traffic laws, expanding technology-based operations, and enhancing public services. Traffic division officials highlighted field-level challenges, operational constraints, and possible solutions to strengthen traffic management.

Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic) Md Anisur Rahman and other senior officials of the traffic division were present at the meeting.
