DMP detains 442 individuals, seizes bomb-making materials in Dhaka

Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested 442 individuals in a 24-hour operation, uncovering bomb-making components and narcotics.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 442 people in a 24-hour citywide drive as part of its regular anti-crime operations, while 29 cases were filed during the same period. The operation aimed to curb crime and narcotics in the capital. During the raids, police seized various contraband, including drugs and suspected bomb-making components.

Arrests and Seizures

The arrestees were distributed across different divisions: 31 from Ramna, 30 from Lalbagh, 49 from Wari, 54 from Motijheel, 67 from Tejgaon, 119 from Mirpur, 29 from Gulshan, 56 from Uttara, six from the Detective Branch (DB), and one from the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit. Police also rescued one victim during the operations.

Seized items included 46 yaba tablets, 216 grams of cannabis, 16 mobile phones, 21 credit and debit cards, 10 cheque books, 443 SIM cards, and drug-taking paraphernalia. Additionally, police recovered several suspected bomb-making components such as burnt umbrella fabric, umbrella rods and handles, battery parts, GI pipe fragments, ball bearings, fuel paper, a bottle cork, and a gas lighter.

Ongoing Efforts

The arrests were made during raids conducted at different police station areas across the capital as part of ongoing efforts to curb crime and narcotics. Legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are currently underway. The operation reflects DMP's continuous commitment to maintaining law and order in Dhaka.
