Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain distributed emergency food supplies to over 500 individuals in Shulkabahar Ward No. 8 (Greater Badurtala) on Tuesday. The aid included essential items such as rice and pulses. The mayor emphasized that the City Corporation is working diligently to ensure no resident faces hunger during this crisis. This initiative will extend to all affected wards, and the City Corporation is also developing a long-term strategy to address waterlogging. Dr. Hossain stated that it is an ethical and humanitarian duty to support those impacted by natural disasters, and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has directed them to work earnestly to alleviate the suffering of those stranded in water.
The mayor expressed gratitude to all leaders, activists, and volunteers who have worked diligently to ensure the success of this humanitarian initiative. Leaders and activists from various political parties, including BNP, were present at the event. Dr. Hossain highlighted that the primary objective of politics is to promote the welfare of the populace, and irrespective of political affiliations, everyone must assist those in peril and provide them with the necessary support.
The recent heavy rainfall, mountain floods, and tidal surges have caused significant waterlogging in various parts of Chattogram, affecting thousands of families. The City Corporation's immediate response aims to provide essential relief to the most vulnerable residents. The long-term strategy being developed will focus on preventing future waterlogging incidents and ensuring better preparedness for natural disasters.
