In a significant operation, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized smuggled goods worth approximately Tk 32 lakh in Kurigram district. The confiscated items, which included Indian cosmetics, cumin seeds, illegal fishing nets, and livestock, were intercepted during separate operations conducted over the past 24 hours. The total estimated value of the seized goods is Tk 31,90,750.
According to a press release from the Kurigram Battalion (22 BGB), the operations were carried out in various border areas under the battalion's jurisdiction. These efforts are part of the BGB's ongoing mission to curb cross-border smuggling, prevent illegal infiltration, and protect the country's sovereignty.
The BGB remains steadfast in its "zero tolerance" policy against smuggling. Personnel of the Kurigram Battalion are committed to performing their duties with the highest level of vigilance and professionalism.
Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Mahbub-ul-Haq, Commanding Officer of the BGB-22 Battalion, emphasized that the force will continue its anti-smuggling operations to prevent illegal activities along the border and ensure border security.
This operation underscores the BGB's dedication to maintaining border integrity and combating illicit trade, which poses a threat to the nation's economic stability and security.
